2009 Grammy Award Winner:
• Best New Artist
• Best Female Pop Vocal Performance: “Chasing Pavements”
The minute you hear that voice, the hair stands up on the back of your neck and you realize this is someone special. Critically-acclaimed UK soul singer Adele released her debut album 19 in 2008, debuting at 1 on the British charts. At just 19, Adelesings like a woman three times her age.
The first single, “Chasing Pavements”, characterizes her autobiographical approach, written after a brawl in a London club with her boyfriend, which sent her fleeing out the door onto Oxford Street.
…her sultry soul voice and songs capture the essence of teenage love… Of all 2008’s female vocalists, none is as great as this one…
Teenage Londoner with the voice of a Motown diva…
It’s clear to see and hear why Adele Adkins is going to be 2008’s breakthrough star… She is the owner of a remarkably bluesy, soulful voice…
